Solasta: Crown of the Magister A Wounded World

Before the Cataclysm, there were no gods on Solasta. No humans, either. Then the Rift opened. Some say it was a magical accident, or the work of an evil god. No one knows for sure. The Cataclysm destroyed the old High Elf empire - Manacalon, they called it - and twisted the land beyond recognition.”

A thousand years have passed. The humans have survived and thrived. The former outer provinces, less scarred by the Cataclysm, have grown into young nations. Only the brave and the foolish venture into the Badlands where the Empire’s heart once stood, but the few who return bring back priceless ancient treasures.

Solasta Lore

The Cataclysm

Before the Catalclysm, the lands were at peace and the Empire of the high elves, Manacalon was at the center of it all. This all came to an end when the rift opened rumored to be opened by an evil god. This caused the Cataclysm that brought the fall of the Empire. The remnants of the fallen empire left behind a vast land of ruins and valuable antiquities in the area now known as the Badlands, a nortiously dangerous territory.

The Humans

Kythaela: "They all came together to save Solasta! The Golden Cavalry charging and breaking the lines of the Sorr-Akkath! The Iron Legions and the Shield Wall of the dwarves... holding the enemy at bay, flank to flank! Our shock arcanist and the human paladins together... giving their lives to give us a chance to close the Rift. And, as another wave came through.. one last throw of the dice..  one last surprise for the Sorr-Akkath! Kaseinax had us walking Solasta in elven form for so long.. but at this moment we resumed our true forms! To secure the Rift for a few crucial moments.. buying time with our lives in a furnace of magic and steel! So Kaseinax finished his ritual!"

The Legacy Council and the Principality of Masgarth

At this time in Caer Cyflen, the Principality's capital, The Legacy Council stands as the center of it all, representing the Principality of Masgarth and other faiths and Factions of its neighbors. Each faction wanting to be a step ahead when uncovering the treasures and antiquities left behind in the ruins of the Badlands, but the Legacy Council stands fair discouraging bias. The Council stands to maintain equality since the recent discovery of new strategic route to and from the Bandlands. This route gives the Pricipality an advantageous position to gain a monopoly on Manacalon antiquities and valuable Faction Relics sought by many, but the council ensures that all Easter Realms and regions have access to a share of antiquities and ancient knowledge. This does not stop them from trying to find other means to obtain these relics.

Regions of Solasta

Other neighboring regions and Factions include the Snow Alliance, The Kingdom of Gallivan and the New Empire. This Snow Alliance is a cluster of small mountain regions. They are an egalitarian region that believe in equality, but respects the power of wealth. The region is represented by the Antiquarians that can be found around the capital as well around the Snow Alliance Embassy. The Kingdom of Gallivan is represented by the Tower of Knowledge known to be one of the more academically inclined regions behind the Antiquarians. The New Empire, the last province governed by Lerithir Imradir aims to reconquer the lost provinces to create a new Imperial age. They are represented by agents of the Silent Whisper and the Arcaneum.  They are considered to be the best school magi and representatives of the Arcaneum Faction can be found around Caer Cyflen and the Legacy Council as well.

The Soraks

The game's story begins when the Council loses contact with Caer Lem Outpost, a base positioned just within the Badlands. The new sworn-in deputies and the protagonists of this story are tasked to check on the condition of the base and instead, discover the existence of Soraks, Man-sized lizards that speak, led by their foul god Sorr-Tarr. They had to report back to the council, but it was hard to convince them without any proof. During their hunt for proof, the deputies came across more than just the Soraks. They had been guarding an ancient relic, a crown. It is also known as the Crown of the Magister.

The Crown of the Magister

The Crownbearer feels a mysterious pull that draws them on a Gem Quest Expedition to collect all the crown gems. This is where the rest their adventure begins. The crownbearer's intuition leads them to a mausoleum which holds an Elf from the fallen empire of the Cataclysm. Her last memories were from before the Cataclysm and she herself feels a pull to her master that could hopefully lead them to the next gem. The Crown is later discovered to belong to Kaseinax, Eternal Soul of the Eight Traditions, ninth and last Magister of the Manacalon Arcaneum. At the time, there were eight masters of magic, one for each of the old schools. In time of need, each the masters lent their gem to the Magister, the head of the Arcaneum. Placed in the Crown, they granted additional powers.. that enabled the Magister to cast spells or perform rituals of incredible power.. Such as the closing of the Rift of Tirmar. The theory stands that the Soraks are back looking to harness the power of the Crown to attempt to reopen the Rift once again. The mission is now to complete the quest for the gems. Only this way can they learn more about the Crown and its powers.
