Heritage of Distrust is a Secondary Quest, and Istvaan's background quest in Solasta: Crown of the Magister. Quests are different tasks and missions that a player can acquire and partake in throughout the game, quests are usually unlocked through the main campaign, during a series of events, or are given by certain NPCs. Completing a quest also grants various rewards that can aid the player throughout their journey.
Heritage of Distrust Objectives
SPEAK TO THE MAYOR
- Mayor Bright-Spark asked you to take care of Joan Tannerson's family. The deceased lawyer - and your former teacher - named you in her will. Talk to her three children before you decide what to do.
TALK TO LYRIA
- Find Lyria, Tannerson's elder daughter, and find out what she thinks of the bequest.
TALK TO ADRIA
- Find Adriia, Tannerson's younger daughter, and find out what she thinks of the bequest.
TALK TO DREW
- Find drew, Tannerson's younger son, and find out what he thinks of the bequest.
GO TO THE NOTARY
- The Notary is waiting at the Tannerson's Mansion, where only Adria still lives. You know the place well. Go there and sign the papers with the notary.

Heritage of Distrust Walkthrough
SPEAK TO THE MAYOR
- Talk to Mayor Kiaradth Bright-Spark at Sunblaze Court.
TALK TO LYRIA
- Proceed to speak to Lyria, who can be found standing next to Joriel Foxeye, with the exclamation mark above her head. Find out what she thinks about the inheritance.
TALK TO DREW
- Travel to the Temple Quarter, Caer Cyflen and speak to Drew.
TALK TO ADRIA
- Travel to the Gravekeep's Cask, Caer Cyflen, to speak to Adria inside.
GO TO THE NOTARY
- Fast travel on the overland map from Caer Cyflen to the Tannerson Estate (just east of Caer Cyflen).
- Defeat an ambush on the way, such as an Archmage, Veterans and Scouts.
- A cutscene will automatically play upon your victory, indicating that these are hired assassins, and not random encounters.
HERITAGE OF ANGER
- As you approach the mansion, you will encounter the three siblings and the lawyer. They will each reveal their stance on how you should divide the inheritance, before you are presented with a few options.
- Two out of the four options, which involves in splitting the inheritance, will result in the lawyer telling you that due to the paperwork laid out, there may only be one chosen inheritance.
- If you choose to give the inheritance to Adria, she'll thank you and promise to share it with everybody. That's unlikely to be true because ...
- If you choose to take the inheritance for yourself, or give it to one of Lyria or Drew, Adria will attack.
- She will initiate an attack by casting a fire spell, killing her other two siblings. The battle between Adria and the party will begin. Defeat Adria and her agents to complete the quest.
- Enter the mansion. on the top left corner next to the staircase are two bookshelves. The one facing the entrance side is a door in disguise, leading into a room with a chest.
- Open the chest, and collect the inheritance, along with Adria's Journal.

I kinda have mixed feelings about this quest. While I do enjoy that there was a twist, there's really nothing to prompt you to think Aria is the TRUE villain, unless you decide to be a jerk to her.. and she's the only nice one.

I think the hint is that the mother didn't choose to give an inheritance to any of the 3... Implying that there's something deeply concerning about all 3 of them. One of them appears better on the surface, but the strangeness of the inheritance going to someone outside the family makes it clear that not all is as it seems.
